These director pair still seems so splendid and powerful
plus sometimes quite funny, just enough comic to avoid losing grip of the great seriousness.
Same goes for The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus, also from late 40's
while this A Matter of Life and Death
is more maximized with really good sci-fi ideas.
