0

HOUSE WITH NO DOOR

skriven av Peter Hammill

med Van Der Graaf Generator 1970

experimentell men enkel, progressiv rock i form av vacker ballad

1

RAINY NIGHT HOUSE

2

GRIEGS PIANOKONSERT i a-moll

i synnerhet tredje satsen

3

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER

4

FIRTH OF FIFTH

av Genesis

med Tony Banks vid klaviaturerna

symfonisk rock från 1973

5

THE ENTERTAINER

blev ledmotiv i filmen The Sting 1973

6

PIANO MAN

7

FOOL'S OVERTURE

med Supertramp

av Rick Davis respektive Roger Hodgson

sist på Even in The Quitest Moments 1977

8

DEBUSSY'S PRÉLUDES

består av 24 småstycken

komponerade av Claude Debussy 1910

framförda av diverse pianister

brukade fastna särskilt för "FLICKAN MED LINHÅRET"

= åttonde stycket i första boken

9

JEALOUS GUY

10

LADY GRINNING SOUL

eller bättre spelad snarare LIFE ON MARS

av/med David Bowie

från 1973 respektive 1971

11

PAINTING WINDOWS eller VINTERSPEL

av/med Nils Erikson 2007 respektive 2002

djupt utsmyckade

12

THE REASON

av/med Ted Gärdestad 1981

vari flygeln verkar spelas av Björn J:son Lindh

(som parallellt stod för stråk-arrangemanget?)

44 Splendid Albums Released 1977

....so far my favourites from that year

which may reflect how often I've put them on,

waiting for 33 more never really heard...

Since I don't have a great taste for pure punk

you will see much mainstream on the one hand

and alot progressive rock on the other hand.

From Famous 500 Lists : Which 10 x 10 Albums Would I....

Among Albums which actually can be found both on NME's list made 2013 and on Rolling Stone's list in its 2020 updated version..

..here you can see how they differ from my personal preferences. Filtered through ten unique questions, which scenarios may clarify my relations to chosen albums.

The Both Big Tops is really fascinating to study, since their positions sometimes differ light years from which I would choose. My judgements may as well tell something about how familiar I am with them (while other albums are complete strangers).

Every song here I must have heard more than twenty rounds (including versions), some of them around hundred times since pre-school, some discovered very recently.

For each tune I mention one person or constellation, who's associated with its background, may be a composer and/or lyricist and/or original performer

Much qualities are also thanks to choires such as The Jordanaires and other musicians, even if ELVIS is the king of everything here.

19 favourite Eurythmics tracks

so far in my experience
which soon will evolve...
here among songs made 1981-89

1. THERE MUST BE AN ANGEL
(PLAYING WITH MY HEART)

2. THORN IN MY SIDE

3. SHE'S INVISIBLE NOW

4. I COULD GIVE YOU (A MIRROR)

5. SYLVIA (into a deep deep sleep)

6. SWEET DREAMS (ARE MADE OF THIS)

7. REVENGE

8. THE KING & QUEEN OF AMERICA

9. SATELLITE OF LOVE
[cover of Lou Reed]

10. BETTER TO HAVE LOST IN LOVE
(THAN NEVER TO HAVE LOVED AT ALL)

11. DOUBLEPLUSGOOD

12. WHEN TOMORROW COMES

13. HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN

14. JENNIFER

15. BELINDA

16. YOU HAVE PLACED A CHILL IN MY HEART

17. ANGEL (Elvis... on a Sunday)

18. ADRIAN

19. LOVE IS A STRANGER

Almost half of what Stewart & Lennox so skillfully has created I still have a difficult time to really enjoy, neither in a superficial or deeper way. While some songs per album I love more and more, simultanously in a superficial and deeper way.

Strangely enough their most famous TOUCH I feel less for than other albums. Their first two In The Garden + Sweet Dreams I seem to hold highest, viewed as whole experiences. Revenge and Savage I've listened too little to to estimate, even though singles from there were my very first impressions of Eurythmics over Sky Channel aso, when I was eleven. So this list can soon change a bit.

We Two Are One I must have lent from the library as more of an adult, after buying Dave Stewarts solo works, also some years after. This was still long before discovering the roots of Eurythmics, including The Tourists. And Lennox' great voice + acting skills I'm just beginning to realise clearly now.

Lizard by King Crimson

Released soon after Abbey Road, known for one track already taking an obscure look back on the Fab Four's split-up.

However, most I wonder what would've happened if Jon Anderson of Yes had contributed to Crimson even more than in the beginning of title piece here - could they'd become the clearly most creative constellation in progressive music history then?!?

Listened to both on old disc and 40th Anniversary Remix by Steven W. which makes many sounds and words very much more possible to detect.

as my Autumn Album # 19:1
by kinda chakra based evaluation

most Whole Soulful piece : LIZARD part A) PRINS RUPERT AWAKES

most Introspective Dreamlike piece : LADY OF THE DANCING WATER

most Expressively Amusing piece : HAPPY FAMILY

most Beautifully Lovable piece : LIZARD part B) BOLERO

most Mighty Strongfelt piece : CIRCUS (incl. Entry of the Chameleons)

most Sexy Teasing piece : INDOOR GAMES

most Stable Solid piece : LIZARD part C) THE BATTLE OF GLASS TEARS

This is more jazz than before and maybe after... First I found the album less exciting or beautiful, but the more I listen the more I'm inclined to put it as King C:s most interesting and well-crafted record. Every shape of Crimson seems to be integrated extremely tight, almost all the time, while otherwise rather outspread to each piece's character.

Reminds me most of :
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Yes
Gentle Giant
Grieg
Ravel

Whole Album

(4) compositions
(7) instrumentations
(6) singin' /playin' feelin'
(5) lyrics (incl titles)
(7) variation
(7) synchronization
(5) cover /concept
(4) historical importance

= 45

I now give 1-7 for each cathegory
where 3 is good and total possible 8 x 7 = 56 never exist(?)
