Songs about Cousins & Talk with Undertones

Getting a real orange, hungry feeling
for Chocolate & School
of earliest 80's post punk rock
as Hypnotised by The Undertones

I'm Returning to this splendid album
sharp and cosy, tough and funny
too unknown to be true

Happen to discover this vitamine pill
five autumns ago while studying everything
although I'm normally into softer songs
and would feel empty without piano otherwise

as my Autumn Album # 178

Blue Angels at Midnight Café with Smokie

first time now I hear this as a full album, made in 1975-76
before Hotel California which otherwise could've made inspiration

though Smokie for me tends to be a greatest hits collection band
and/or for many people a live band
but still has potential in every piece to fill splendid studio albums

- while I'm not sure these really work as concepts,
still seems more as simply putting together
those magically cosy, county:ish songs

as my Autumn Album # 172
Midnight Café without bonus tracks

by kinda chakra based evaluation
here including small, deeper song reflections :

most Soulful song : SOMETHING'S BEEN MAKING ME BLUE
[by Chinn, Chapman]
becomes nicer and warmer for every round, yet according to the painful lyrics feels so deep... could be Smokies very best, extra well performed

most Imaginative song : WHAT CAN I DO?
[by Silson]
as haunting as always... shamefully I had forgot whether this was Smokie or some other soft hard rock band... and its sharpness differs a bit from their main groove, maybe because Alan Silson appearantly made it

most Amusing song : LITTLE LUCY
[by Norman, Spencer]
a happyish little piano stomp piece among the less superficial material... a new pearl for me, haven't met her before

most Beautiful song : WHEN MY BACK WAS AGAINST THE WALL
[by Norman, Spencer]
Reminded me already in the intro's strings that I actually had heard it twenty years ago, recorded it first on a tape for a friend... could have worked even on Beatles' Abbey Road?!

most Strong song : WILD WILD ANGELS
[by Chinn, Chapman]
a rock ballad cannot touch more directly deep than this!? ...never forget when the stripper played it as her performance song... still diminishes its dynamic effect by being already second number on Midnight Cafe, should've been a final or maybe opening the B-side (same goes for What Can I Do)

most Sexy song : I'LL MEET YOU AT MIDNIGHT
[by Chinn, Chapman]
here in the end we clearly begin to understand some french theme inspiration... a nice kind of euro beat mixed with sensual melancholy, but leaves me just teased, with no unforgetable satisfaction

most Rooted song : MAKE YA BOOGIE
[by Uttley, Norman, Spancer, Silson]
though it may feel a bit boring, they at least tried to make this relatively long session, a heavy contrast to their country pop, but still miles from some progressive rock threads they spun on the preceding album

Reminds me most of : Slade, Scorpions, Eagles, Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, Björn Skifs, Neil Diamond, Neil Young, C.C. Revival, Beatles, Brinsley Schwarz, Uriah Heep
