Rhythm of YES

my Summer Song # 1300

RHYTHM OF LOVE
with Yes

by Jon Anderson, Tony Kaye, Trevor Rabin,
Chris Squire and Alan White

from album BIG GENERATOR, 1987

interesting instrument : except the magic chorus, I must pick the "full orchestra" synth sound so popular in late 80's, suddenly crashing in among all the super sharp guitars

main emotion : spiritually confident happiness

lyrics line lingering : "Why should I escort you /to your secret needs? Climbing up your ladder /I keep falling down"

similar song : someone with Queen from "The Miracle", maybe a slower cousin to Breakthru

form of field : synth rock, more pop:ish than Yes ever has been. Well, in my ears they handle the genre as good and creative as any progressive anthems Jon ever has made.

role on record : FIRST and by no doubt the album's BEST. Fantastic piece on what allmusic gives only two stars [but OK, maybe just this song and number five shines much stronger than so].

my private picture : a mountain cliff full of towers, each shouting through it's windows, then begin to behave like birds, every tower flying up to the sun.
