Rediscover 60's themes of Henry Mancini

The Great movie music Composer and Conductor

Moon River and Dear Heart I appreciated already in my late 80's, even if they seemed a bit boring. And still of course his music /arrangements feels more beautiful and elegant than exciting or creative. Love Theme From Romeo & Juliet was among the most beautiful I ever had heard in my early 90's.

Henry manages the art of sounding naively romantic without being too sentimental or too superficial or too deeply involved. Although these borders are never far away, he is saved by jazzy elements of some vibrafones and "76 trombones". For me this is actually what you could expect if you put italian roots in the big soil of America.
