SnowBlack Movie # 1307
a nowaday development of the little flying creature from Peter Pan,
with it's origin in the earliest years of last century
Review of both movies together
TINKER BELL
+ TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE
written and directed by
Bradley Raymond (USA 2008)
Klay Hall (USA 2009)
which already has been followed by two more movies, soon to be
seen...
Happy role: CHEESE THE MOUSE who fairys sometimes rides upon
Grumpy role: VIDIA the fast-flying fairy girl, who controls sand
whirls
Crazy role: BOBBLE the smaller tinker fairy boy in glasses
Shy role: BLAZE the BumbleBee with the LightBulb
[Tinker Bell's voice is made by Mae Whitman, who I recently saw in a
less soft role, in Perks of Being a Wallflower]
Explosive role: TINKER BELL herself, the new fairy girl, who will repair
mechanisms
Exhausted role: THE MINISTER OF SPRING + THE MINISTER OF AUTUMN (with responsibility for each
season being properly created)
Wise role: THE OWL who asks "WHO?"
Beautiful role: FAWN the pigtailed fairy girl, who shows birds how
to fly

Plutonium Cathedral with VACUUM
THE PLUTONIUM CATHEDRAL, the premiere album of Vaccum, I never discovered it in 1997, but probably the better now. Vacuum's scientific persona clings extremely well to the space between what's superficial and what's really deep.
Vacuum was a swedish trio who took over where Army of Lovers ended in the mid 90's. Bard had flown into the more cinematically timeless nest of Wollbeck and Lindblom, where also a woman Schipjenko could be found. Their way of blending synth pop with orchestral music gives some fantastically strange harmonies.
most Loving song: CLOSER THAN THE HOLY GHOST
most growing Strong song: SCIENCE OF THE SACRED (Adam and Eve)
most Strange song: PRUSSIA (to write a page in history)
most Smart song: SIGN ON THE SKYLINE
science of Vacuum in a very fine video
most Sexy song: I BREATHE [clouds beneath my window... I feel satellites in limbo]
most Beautiful song: ATLAS SHRUGGED
most Amusing song: THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME

Ukraine through US eyes
SnowBlack Movie # 1308
CHERNOBYL DIARIES
by Bradley Parker, Oren Peli a.o.
USA 2012
located to Kiev + Pripyat
Most movies I see is fantastic in some way or another. This is just fantastic in the choice of theme and environment - the rest seems clumsy. Could have been so much more fascinating - even the scariness isn't really scary. Uri is the only character who feels genuine for this context, and maybe that's exactly what the movie is about.

Departure & Farewell with HEM
Sung by Sally Ellyson
Compositions by Dan Messe (and Steve Curtis)
Since all their thirteen songs are beautiful, I now skip putting them into each cathegory. We just say everyone is BEAUTIFUL.
Instead I imagine which other folk singers would suit to make covers of Hem's songs (= in many cases make them a bit more expressive)
or which songs seems to be inspired most by which folk/country/jazz singers:
1. DEPARTURE AND FAREWELL
like Joni Mitchell
2. WALKING PAST THE GRAVEYARD, NOT BREATHING
like Madeleine Peyroux
3. THINGS ARE NOT PERFECT IN OUR YARD
like Judee Sill
4. THE SEED
like Carly Simon
5. THE JACK PINE
like Aimee Mann
6. TORNIQUET
like Nick Drake
7. SEVEN ANGELS
like Gordon Lightfoot
8. GENTLY DOWN THE STREAM
like Simon & Garfunkel
9. BIRD SONG
like Joan Baez
10. TRAVELER'S SONG
like Randy Newman
11. THE TIDES AT THE NARROWS

12. LAST CALL

13. SO LONG

yesterday's YES and Time And A Word with YES
I now try to do one common estimation of both their earliest albums:
YES (1969)
and TIME AND A WORD (1970)
Before Yes really became that big progressive band, before Howe and Wakeman arrived... I still do like Chris Squire's and Jon Anderson's interpretations of own and other's songs, maybe even more since they are more like... well, songs :-) no one longer than seven minutes maximum, but already played like they were symphonies or opera arias.
Anyhow the music's in full blossom of late 60's feeling. As eclectic and nice as on Deep Purple's very earliest albums, some would find it impossible to tell from here where the band would land later, while I find it not too far away.
most Loving song: THEN [by Jon A]
most growing Strong song: BEYOND AND BEFORE [by Bailey, Squire]
most Strange song: HAROLD LAND [by Bruford, Squire, Jon A]
most Smart song: THE PROPHET [by Jon A, Squire]
most Sexy song: I SEE YOU [cover of Byrds]
most Beautiful song: SURVIVAL [by Jon A]
most Amusing song: EVERY LITTLE THING [cover of Beatles]

Instead of role characters, in this movie I pick SCENES. Spoiler warning!
Almost everyone, even the hazardous scenes, is funny in some way or another.
Harold and "the boy" is reffered to as same person.
Explosive scene:
The boy trying to catch the tram, on which dozens of potential passengers are hangin' outside. When he finally also founds a grip, the boy is confronted by a car including the man he happened to tear down...
Exhausted scene:
As Harold has climbed almost the whole building, dingled from the clock and a loose roop too, just to have to face a mouse showing up (as if the hungry birds wasn't enough).
Wise scene:
Even though he was well in time for work, the boy by mistake gets caught in a delivery car, and now becomes late for work.
Shy scene:
Hiding under their hangin' coats, hissing their feet up, as someone search for them in the office...
Crazy scene:
Harold hiding first as a dressed dummy and then as a jumping frog behind an incoming package. As the delivery man turns another way, Harold continues to jump through the store in full open.
Grumpy scene:
An old lady has demanded to take a closer look to every cloth in the whole boutique shelf, but then just wants a small sample of the choosen pattern.
Happy scene:
The girl friend visiting the boy's working place, and being so impressed by him acting the boss position, never knowing he pretends. The boy is far more successful in creating this live theatre than advance in his actual work.
Beautiful scene:
As Harold needs to get a glimpse of his own reflection, and uses a bald man's head as mirror. Or otherwise the whole modern city behind the building Harold is crawling upon...

Even though the story is set to early 90's (same time as I went to high school) the choice of music is much from 70's glam and 80's postpunk.
I remember also discovering many older superhits by that time, in the fresh 90's as MIX TAPES were given each other like never before (even though I've mixed times and looked back during my whole life).
Best Soundtrack: C'MON EILEEN with Dexy's Midnight Runners, made -82 but never heard it until -90, and then couldn't forget it.
