19 favourite Eurythmics tracks
so far in my experience
which soon will evolve...
here among songs made 1981-89
1. THERE MUST BE AN ANGEL
(PLAYING WITH MY HEART)
2. THORN IN MY SIDE
3. SHE'S INVISIBLE NOW
4. I COULD GIVE YOU (A MIRROR)
5. SYLVIA (into a deep deep sleep)
6. SWEET DREAMS (ARE MADE OF THIS)
7. REVENGE
8. THE KING & QUEEN OF AMERICA
9. SATELLITE OF LOVE
[cover of Lou Reed]
10. BETTER TO HAVE LOST IN LOVE
(THAN NEVER TO HAVE LOVED AT ALL)
11. DOUBLEPLUSGOOD
12. WHEN TOMORROW COMES
13. HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN
14. JENNIFER
15. BELINDA
16. YOU HAVE PLACED A CHILL IN MY HEART
17. ANGEL (Elvis... on a Sunday)
18. ADRIAN
19. LOVE IS A STRANGER
Almost half of what Stewart & Lennox so skillfully has created I still have a difficult time to really enjoy, neither in a superficial or deeper way. While some songs per album I love more and more, simultanously in a superficial and deeper way.
Strangely enough their most famous TOUCH I feel less for than other albums. Their first two In The Garden + Sweet Dreams I seem to hold highest, viewed as whole experiences. Revenge and Savage I've listened too little to to estimate, even though singles from there were my very first impressions of Eurythmics over Sky Channel aso, when I was eleven. So this list can soon change a bit.
We Two Are One I must have lent from the library as more of an adult, after buying Dave Stewarts solo works, also some years after. This was still long before discovering the roots of Eurythmics, including The Tourists. And Lennox' great voice + acting skills I'm just beginning to realise clearly now.

Lizard by King Crimson
Released soon after Abbey Road, known for one track already taking an obscure look back on the Fab Four's split-up.
However, most I wonder what would've happened if Jon Anderson of Yes had contributed to Crimson even more than in the beginning of title piece here - could they'd become the clearly most creative constellation in progressive music history then?!?
Listened to both on old disc and 40th Anniversary Remix by Steven W. which makes many sounds and words very much more possible to detect.
as my Autumn Album # 19:1
by kinda chakra based evaluation
most Whole Soulful piece : LIZARD part A) PRINS RUPERT AWAKES
most Introspective Dreamlike piece : LADY OF THE DANCING WATER
most Expressively Amusing piece : HAPPY FAMILY
most Beautifully Lovable piece : LIZARD part B) BOLERO
most Mighty Strongfelt piece : CIRCUS (incl. Entry of the Chameleons)
most Sexy Teasing piece : INDOOR GAMES
most Stable Solid piece : LIZARD part C) THE BATTLE OF GLASS TEARS
This is more jazz than before and maybe after... First I found the album less exciting or beautiful, but the more I listen the more I'm inclined to put it as King C:s most interesting and well-crafted record. Every shape of Crimson seems to be integrated extremely tight, almost all the time, while otherwise rather outspread to each piece's character.
Reminds me most of :
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Yes
Gentle Giant
Grieg
Ravel
Whole Album
(4) compositions
(7) instrumentations
(6) singin' /playin' feelin'
(5) lyrics (incl titles)
(7) variation
(7) synchronization
(5) cover /concept
(4) historical importance
= 45
I now give 1-7 for each cathegory
where 3 is good and total possible 8 x 7 = 56 never exist(?)

Open Road with Donovan
and his kind of Band
at the start of the 70's
which could've been even better

my Top 39 among Albums Released 1979
-79 seems to me a bit superficial, strange year in
music history. Of course many splendid songs were made, in creative

I Can See Your House From Here by Camel
in their 1979 shape, still shining fine
though taking too many steps from progressive
into pop, sadly enough without Bardens on keyboards
Rediscovered Record # 19:1
by kinda chakra based evaluation
most Whole Soulful song : WHO WE ARE
most Introspective Dreamlike song : EYE OF THE STORM *
most Expressively Amusing song : REMOTE ROMANCE
most Beautifully Lovable song : HYMN TO HER (or end of Who We Are)
most Mighty Strongfelt song : WAIT
most Sexy Teasing song : NEON MAGIC
most Survive-Struggling song : SURVIVAL (more of an intro)
Above and/or Below everyone : ICE
while single material "Your Love is Stranger Than Mine" there's no big space for in my appreciation
* like a perfect signature melody for some television series!?!
Reminds me most of :
Genesis
Manfred Mann's Earth Band
10cc
Alan Parsons' Project
Toto
Electric Light Orchestra
Saga

some pieces in the end are rather questionable (as always)
whether they really belong to progressive rock or something else??
though the upper majority are represented in forums as progarchives
however my definition is dynamic, kind of rhapsodic, longer pieces
in which
rock guitar stuff
use to be balanced
by orchestral or organ-based parts
