Who Are You? with The Who

At first hard to appreciate, but now among the richer... I am impressed!

This album was my earliest experience of them, even before Who's Next (when I just had heard Tommy as movie with the other artists)

my Spring Record # 1502

most Soulful song: GUITAR AND PEN

most Imaginative song: 905 [Mother was an incubator]

most Amusing song: NEW SONG

most Beautiful song: NO ROAD ROMANCE (bonus track)

most Strong song: HAD ENOUGH

most Sexy song: SISTER DISCO

most Grounded song: MUSIC MUST CHANGE

genre
trying to blend together punk and progressive rock [some say] as the very poles - maybe just possible to navigate between - while taking some parallell disco steps (not for real?)

(3) compositions
a bit monotonous, too stifled blocks, though surprisingly wide inside... I would shorten the last title track and round off with "No Romance on The Road" instead

(7) instrumentations
I love layers of synths and strings, especially in rock music

(6) playin' feelin'
still alive...!

(5) lyrics (incl titles)
Townshend as well as Entwistle are struggling to take a place in their own time, from simple statements to fun social analysis to serious sci-fi

(2) synchronization + variation
toying with so different fields, yet the album feels unfinished, like even more new Who-sounds  would've proved their musical mastership

(6) cover picture
nice symbolism - why do these rockers stand/sit among all those electronical things?!

(4) historical importance
fans seem to have been deeply disappointed - but to still be The Who in -78 was probably a great work, fascinating to follow

= 34

I now give 1-7 for each cathegory
where 3 is good and total possible 7 x 7 = 49 never exist(?)
