Released in late -74, almost a decade after he brought the indian influences into western songmaking,
this I believe is the top of Donovan's road (or beginning to roll down
the mountain - if Essence to Essence is the very top), with him managing
many genres in his own magical way.

31:st of February Street with Cliff Richard
Released in 1974 with some compositions of even Cliff himself,
this I felt was one of the world's sweetest made records some years ago. And it still gives some deep stings among all the harmony. Most of these melodies are quite melancholic and laidback though - so maybe my head create much of it's power in my heart?
Sounds like Donovan and his greatly gliding songs, as the spirituality had settled down in the 70's with a bit more ordinary easy-goingness, far from rock or psychedelica. Some exciting experiments is maybe the only thing this album's missing - even though the very concept is more well-constructed than usual with such popular single singers.
most Amusing song: GIVE ME BACK THAT OLD FAMILIAR FEELING
most Beautiful song: THE LEAVING (I could not help her)
most Sexy song: YOU WILL NEVER KNOW (one day I write a book about you)
most Smart song: 31st OF FEBRUARY STREET (Opening and Ending)
most Strange song: FIRESIDE SONG
most Loving song : NO MATTER WHAT (I always end up loving you)
most growing Strong song: GOING AWAY

Swing Lo Magellan with Dirty Projectors
which consists of Brooklyn-based Dave Longstreth & co
sixth album (2012) by Dirty Projectors
Could be one of the most creative this year?! Including many oldish styles in a 21st century indie way. Heard album Bitte Orca before this, thought that was one of the most interesting 2009, but in a less emotionally fulfilling way. Swing Lo Magellan I find twice as well-composed and much more accessible (though a half star less on allmusic).
most Amusing song: JUST FROM CHEVRON

A Grounding in Numbers with VanDerGraaf Generator

World of The Wizzard : Roy Wood
wWw
Finally I've found the music of Roy Wood. His arrangements are even more magic than the universe of Jeff Lynne. They were both part of The Move, which Wood drove more than Lynne. Then when Lynne created ELO, Wood soon moved away to his WIZZARD. I imagined this too would be something like the electric light version of late Beatles, but Roy W is something complete other = still pure rock'n'roll.
OK, the glamrock scene of 1973 can also be direct detected, giving vibes of Sweet, Roxy Music, Mott The Hoople and even some ABBA. But glamrock obviously had more to do with 50's-60's rock (and bubblegum pop) than with the progressive symphonical psychedelica. I appreciate all these genres, but digging the pieces of Wood goes deeper into the heart now - than during my first Move-rounds some years ago. Then I prefered the softer songs - now more of the real reshaped rock'n'rollers. And above all, on many tracks, there lingers a strange kind of Phil Spector feeling /sound.
So, so far my twelve favourite compositions by Adrian "Roy" Wood seems to be the following. Everyone can be found on either "The Move Hits & Rarities Singles A's & B's" (compiled 1999) or "Roy Wood The Wizzard! Greatest Hits & More" (compiled 2006).

is unclear whether Wood or Lynne composed (I've got different informations), but since it sounds a little more like Lynne (who also sings) I wouldn't put it on this list.
